Welcome Home
Welcome Home is a surrealist-replication installation comprised of hybrid furniture sculptures. These sculptures blur the line between object and humanity, asking viewers to consider the dehumanization of marginalized genders. The culmination of sculptures and chosen materials indicates a domestic environment encompassing notions of home, comfort, and constructed societal roles. These elements reveal a satirical view of sexism personified by turning women's bodies into recognizable objects representing comfort, nourishment, and aesthetic pleasure.
We are undoubtedly an advanced society, but our inhumane hierarchical views are juvenile at best. Imagine what feats we could accomplish if we could recognize the value of equity. Instead, we are lost children fighting for power in a system that evolved from the imagination of archaic minds. This is the world. This is our country. Welcome home.
